To ensure that all children have access to environments of care that foster healthy development, CCR&R Services provides leadership and support to families, employers, and childcare professionals in Onslow County. In general, CCR&R works to improve the availability and quality of licensed childcare, conducts workshops on choosing childcare, and answers questions on childcare regulation and quality issues.
Services to families include childcare referrals, including enhanced referrals for families that have children under the age of two. Employers in Onslow County who are concerned about the effects of childcare issues on the workforce have access to referrals on behalf of their employees, along with presentations, trainings and consultations from CCR&R staff as needed. For childcare professionals, the CCR&R provides extensive trainings, literacy activities, the use of on-site Resource Centers, and technical assistance, including support for new childcare businesses. CCR&R services are offered at designated offices in CCR&R Region 3, and at various businesses and training locations around the county, depending upon what is most convenient for those being served.
In 2014-2015, CCR&R provided the parents of 1,600 children with the information they needed to begin or maintain employment or formal education and 803 child care professionals with training on topics such as Reducing Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect, and Transportation Safety in Child Care.
