The Onslow County Partnership for Children (OCPC) is seeking a full-time Inclusion Specialist to join our training and technical assistance team.  The Onslow County Partnership for Children is a private non-profit agency that advocates and provides services for the healthy development of children, by building the strengths and capacities of families, care-giving professionals, and the communities in which they reside.

In an effort to increase awareness and education and provide accommodations for children with special needs, the Inclusion Specialists will partner with early educators to support an inclusive environment for children.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: providing technical assistance to help early childhood educators in putting strategies into daily routines, curriculum and behavior management.  This position will also be responsible for collaboration with parents, early educators, other health care providers and community agencies.  The Inclusion Specialist is expected to provide accurate information and offer referrals as needed and may also be requested to support and accommodate families as an advocate during the IEP process.  

The Inclusion Specialist must have knowledge of NC Early Childhood Education requirements, knowledge of star-rated license requirements, knowledge of early childhood curriculum and best practices in inclusive environments and the NC Foundations for Early Learning and Development.  The Inclusion Specialist must also have knowledge of nationally recognized early childhood environmental assessment tools (such as ITERS-R/ECERS-R/FCCERS-R).  The Inclusion Specialist must also have knowledge of behavioral theory, disability law, disability services, disability categories under IDEA, positive behavior supports, behavior intervention plans, crisis intervention and/or mediation, administrative practices and organizational procedures common to child development and/or special education programs.  Have knowledge of early childhood curriculum to support social-emotional development. Have knowledge of and ability to analyze behavior, interpret psychological assessments, individual education plans and recommend solutions or appropriate action.  Have knowledge and a basic understanding of the Pyramid Model for RTI/levels of intervention, promoting social-emotional development and school readiness of young children birth to age 5.

The Inclusion Specialist position has a minimum requirement of a Bachelor's Degree- Early Childhood Special Education is preferred, however Child Development, Special Education or Early Childhood Education may be considered; five to seven years of experience in working with children and their families is required.  Master's preferred.  The Inclusion Specialist should be able to communicate and work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds, have managerial skills, and effective written and oral skills plus a proficiency in Microsoft Office.
